My client, a leading international finance consultancy near Barbican (walking distance from Liverpool Street), are looking for a Paralegal to join, initially for 6 months but with potential to be extended on a permanent basis.
 
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Paralegal / Commercial Contracts Manager to move into a commercial in-house role. You will provide legal support to the business, reporting directly into the Senior Legal Counsel.
 
This will be the ideal role for someone who has come from a legal background, either as a fully qualified Solicitor or someone with solid experience of working as a Commercial Contracts Manager. They are looking for someone who can hit the ground running and will have the confidence and ability to work with Partners and Project Directors.
 
Flexibility will be offered in regards to how many days are required in the office and will be confirmed on an individual basis. Their core hours are 9am – 5:30pm.
 
What you’ll do:
 
- Legal research.
- Contract management and legal administrative requirements, including monitoring of the Contract Mailbox (the general inbox for requests) and ensuring queries are answered in a timely manner.
- Oversee the administrative handling of contractual documents (ranging from NDAs, Commercial Contracts, amendments to master services agreements, and so on), having the first engagement with stakeholders to ensure there is sufficient information regarding key clauses for each document before raising to the Senior Legal Counsel where needed, through to managing the counter-execution of documents.
- Take responsibility for managing the document database, NetSuite, including archiving countersigned legal documents in accordance with the naming, tagging and storage conventions (training will be provided), managing the system’s notifications to ensure that consultants and business departments are aware of upcoming deadlines etc.
- Manage regular reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel on statistics on which new clients/ suppliers were onboarded with / without countersigned terms, with/ without adhering to company policy, etc.
- Work with the Senior Legal Counsel to design legal training and deliver presentations, specifically for new starters.
- Assist the Senior Legal Counsel with compliance obligations, such as policy review, GDPR queries and other tasks as directed.
- Over time there would be the option to work with the Consultants and provide legal research on client billable projects.
 
Who you are:
 
- Legal qualifications or experience as a Commercial Contracts Manager (Paralegal, ILEX or similar).
- Previous commercial experience is essential.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Collaborative.
- Multi-lingual (Italian, French, German, Dutch) is highly desirable.
- Proactive and comfortable working at pace.
- Ability to balance and prioritise workload whilst closing down queries and pushing tasks to completion.
- Ability to examine documents and information and question /challenge to ensure that commercial input is complete, sensible and confirmed to a level which can be relied upon by the consultants.
- Ability to identify commercial risks and raise as necessary upwards.
