Job description

Why join Nelsons

Nelsons is one of the largest and fastest growing law firms in the East Midlands. We have recently joined Lawfront and have offices based in Derby, Nottingham and Leicester.

We are a progressive and forward-thinking company that likes to challenge the norm and the way things are done in the legal sector. We look to empower our clients, to give them a voice, fight for them, help them seek justice and steer them through the complex legal issues they face. The desire to push ourselves forwards to better serve our clients has been a constant throughout our evolution.

Our Personal Injury Team

At Nelsons, we have dedicated Personal Injury experts across the East Midlands.  Our team is recommended by The Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners as one of the top teams of specialists in the country.  We are also members of the Law Society Personal Injury Panel and we work with many local and nationwide charitable organisations.

The Role

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join our excellent personal Injury team in our Derby office.

The role will include:

  • Progressing Personal Injury claims from inception through to completion and assisting with a mixed caseload of non-RTA fast track claims.
  • Assisting experienced and senior fee earners on serious injury claims.
  • Providing important and detailed support on cases by preparing, scheduling and organising relevant documentation.
  • Accounting in relation to interim payments of compensation and scheduling losses.
  • Dealing with client enquiries both by phone and in person.
  • Taking information for and drafting witness statements
  • Liaising with third parties such as experts and the court with administrative tasks

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working in a legal environment.  Previous experience of working in a Personal Injury team is not essential but would be an advantage.

Candidates will also have excellent organisational, communication and IT skills, particularly in the use of Excel software. You should also display an attention to detail.  You should be dedicated to client care and to providing support to a small, friendly team of fee earners. As you will be expected to record your time and work towards a set target, experience of meeting targets would be beneficial.

As part of this role, you will be given all the tools you need to succeed and you can expect to receive dedicated training, professional support and a host of benefits.
