Job description

We are looking for the right people — people who want to innovate, achieve, grow and lead. We attract and retain the best talent by investing in our employees and empowering them to develop themselves and their careers. Experience the challenges, rewards and opportunity of working for one of the world’s largest providers of products and services to the global energy industry.

We welcome applications to join our Ethics & Compliance group as a Paralegal or Senior Paralegal, where you will be an important member of our team handling various ethics and legal matters globally. You will support the investigation of reports related to our ethics guidelines (Halliburton’s Code of Business Conduct), assist in caseload management, prepare critical materials for internal and external reporting, and support programmatic initiatives.

 Responsibilities:

  • Handle the creation and maintenance of matters in our case management system.
  • Assist in the location of documents, records, witnesses, etc., and maintaining case files, records, and information systems.
  • Work closely with internal investigators in the intake, triage, handling, and documenting of reports of ethics concerns.
  • Work closely with Human Resources and other internal stakeholders on general inquiries and actions, locating documents, scheduling witness interviews, taking minutes and notes during interviews and other meetings, and triaging reports and requests.
  • Coordinate and participate in fact-gathering interviews.
  • Support internal training initiatives presented and led by the Global Ethics & Compliance group.
  • Prepare required reports (statistics, PowerPoints, etc.) for internal and external reporting purposes.
  • Conduct other miscellaneous tasks as required to support the department and its global initiatives.

Skills and Credentials

  • Although experience is important, ultimately what will be valued most is that you are a professional, motivated self-starter, with sound judgment and the ability to make important decisions within the scope of your job duties on a daily basis.
  • The job requires complete discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • The best candidates will possess strong time management skills and attention to detail.
  • The successful candidate should have the following technical skills: (1) excellent computer skills, which includes but is not limited to Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and Outlook; and, in addition, (2) familiarity with TeamConnect and/or SAP would be beneficial.
  • This role typically requires a 4-year undergraduate degree, a paralegal certificate, and/or equivalent experience. 2-3 years of prior legal assistant/paralegal experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and high degree of organization skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and to handle a high-volume of tasks.
  • Team player and collaborator.
  • Second language, particularly Spanish, will be highly beneficial.

Candidates having qualifications that exceed the minimum job requirements will receive consideration for higher-level roles given (1) their experience, (2) additional job requirements, and/or (3) business needs. Depending on education, experience, and skill level, a variety of job opportunities might be available from Paralegal to Senior Paralegal. The selected employee will have the opportunity to grow within their role over time.
