Job description

Job Introduction

Do enjoy working in a fast-paced, varied role? Do you have a desire to learn a broad range of skills and knowledge? Are you organised and able to prioritise work? Are you someone who thrives within a team?

We have a great new role as part of an expanding team, the developing Parking Strategy & Contracts team. Your role will be supporting the team in almost every part of Parking Services, as the first point of contact for a wide spectrum of queries and needs from internal and external stakeholders. Your work will support all the internal Parking teams as well as the external contracts that provide a range of essential services.

You will work as part of a team within the Parking Strategy and Contracts, contributing to and supporting the good running of internal teams and external contracts. There are multiple shared inboxes and customer contact portals that you will manage as a team of officers, which require either direct responses or redirecting to the appropriate team.

You will deliver excellent customer service and support a dynamic team which feeds into almost every aspect of Parking Services, providing either responses directly or working with other team members to formulate responses.

As part of the role, you will undertake day to day activities of responding to complaints, queries, data requests and analysis of transactional data from a broad range of enquiries. You will be comfortable moving between different data portals and ensuring the correct information is obtained.

You will support the team in the creation of a wide range of reports, analytics and investigations across Parking Services. You will be downloading and preparing required data, undertaking preliminary analysis and ensuring that our record keeping is organised and robust.

You will gain an insight into how Parking works in the City, the many demands that we face and providing concise, informative feedback to a range of recipients.

It is not essential to come into the role with experience in technical analysis or dealing with external stakeholders, but you will have an appetite for learning and building your skills.

You will have an interest in supporting the Council’s long-term goals, such as Carbon Neutrality, and be engaged with the technological side of Electric Vehicle Charging, supporting one of the country’s largest networks.

This is a permanent role.

Interview date TBC

For an informal discussion please email Michelle Griffiths , Data & Performance Manager. michelle.griffiths@brighton-hove.gov.uk

As part of your application, you will need to complete your education and work history and provide answers to some shortlisting questions. Your answers to the shortlisting questions are the most important part of your application as they will be used in the shortlisting process to assess whether you meet the essential requirements for the role that are set out in the person specification and to decide whether you should be offered an interview. Before you start your application, please read our guidance here (Shortlisting questions guidance (brighton-hove.gov.uk)) as this gives important advice which will increase your chance of success in the shortlisting process.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR MANAGERS:

  • Application Form & Branching questions
  • CV & Statement
  • CV & Branching questions

Job location details - PLEASE READ

We would expect the majority of roles to be either frontline/office-based or working in a hybrid way (Options 1 or 2). By exception, and where there is a hard to recruit “professional” /specialist role for a fixed term temporary assignment, recruiting managers may consider allowing the role holder to spend the majority of their time working remotely from home, with only occasional attendance at the office required (Option 3 below). As the Council is still currently piloting its hybrid working arrangements and to ensure consistent and equitable treatment, such arrangements in Option 3 would need to be discussed and agreed in consultation with your HR business partner in the first instance.

Please confirm selection in the Internal notes section:

  • Frontline roles or those that have remained office-based throughout
  • Part office / part home
  • Remote working with occasional attendance in the office

(IMPORTANT NOTE – OPTION 3 ONLY TO BE USED BY EXCEPTION)

Additional Information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.

We offer the opportunity for the suitable candidate to choose to work in a hybrid way. Your specific working arrangements will be subject to team and service working arrangements already in place alongside Government guidance. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team and travel to and from your contractual location would be at your own expense.
