Part Time Data Entry Clerk

Salary: 11.44 per hour

Location: Swavesey

Type: Temporary

The business manufactures high vacuum equipment with a specialty in bespoke machines for vacuum coating, medical and research & development applications.

The job description sounds quite heavy, but it isn't. They just need to cover all bases as they never know what will crop up. You are essentially helping where you can as they get busy early in the evenings needing someone to input purchase order numbers ready for the next day.

Core Activities:

  • Transcribe contract review instructions verbally delivered by the Contract Review Engineer.
  • Ensure accurate filing of customer Purchase Orders.
  • Assist in the receipt, assessment, and measurement of Customers' work, when required.
  • Answer phone calls and email enquiries in the evening, when required, hence the hours.

Job Description

The primary function of the job is to assist the Contract Review Engineer to receive and sort customers' work into batches and then enter relevant purchase order information - such as quantity of goods, treatment required, and final quality requirements - onto job cards that will then accompany the customers' work as it is processed.

The purchase order information will be given to the Data Entry Clerk, who must accurately type this information into the company computer system and then quickly cross-check this information with the original purchase order prior to filing. This is all carried out to a relatively tight deadline, so accuracy and fast typing are a must!

Due to this deadline, when the Contract Review Engineer requires assistance, the Data Entry Clerk may be requested to count and measure customers' work as it is delivered to the site.

Where required, the Data Entry Clerk may be required to respond to phone and / or email enquiries, and where relevant, to take messages or forward them on to the appropriate recipient.

Overtime and additional hours of work may be offered on an ad-hoc basis, and due to the size of the company, some flexibility to the type of work carried out (e.g. assisting in covering Reception) may occasionally be requested.

For all duties, training will be provided either in a one-to-one environment or on-the-job.

Other duties

  • Assisting in filing old purchase orders for storage.
  • Updating job procedures and instructions.
  • General cleanliness of the office and contract review area.

Hours: 15:00 - 19:00 Monday - Friday with possible overtime
