To perform full research, evaluate and risk assess information in relation to Information Rights applications and disclosure applications across a range of statutory legislative areas – including Data Protection Act, Freedom of Information Act and Disclosure Barring Service.
To prepare accurate and specific reports/responses/disclosures in order to deliver high quality and timely information and so contribute towards local and national Service Level Agreements.
Comply with individual’s statutory rights and also directly help to protect and safeguard vulnerable people.

Durham Constabulary have an exciting opportunity for a Disclosure Officer to join the busy and varied Information Rights & Disclosure Unit team.
This role is an integral part of the safeguarding disclosure process, undertaking research, assessing risk and preparing reports for disclosure to professional partners and individuals. The role involves liaising with Social Services, County Councils, Family Court professionals and other requestors.
You will need to be a proactive decision maker, with established resilience and be organised and take personal responsibility for your workload, paying attention to detail to ensure accuracy of the information you share in conjunction with the legal requirements in relation to disclosure.
The information dealt with is of a confidential and sensitive nature. There will also be occasional access and viewing of both sensitive and potential disturbing images/information.
This is a part-time role working 22.2 hours per week, working days to be confirmed. The flexible working hours’ scheme applies to this post.
Please note whilst very occasional weekend working may be required this is a maximum of 6hrs per weekend (minimum 3 hours) and can be completed remotely. It is envisaged to be no more than three times a year.
