Pastoral Care Workers Alternative provision
We are currently recruiting for Pastoral Care Workers to start in ASAP on a temporary to permanent basis. The roles would be to play an important role under the guidance from senior staff. Pastoral Care Workers are there to provide on call support while also helping to create stimulating, safe and structured environment for complex needs. This will be working in a large mainstream school with a unit attached to this in the Wakefield area.
Job Description:
- Support pupils with consistent, unconditional positive regard, identifying and responding to their individual restorative practice.
- Use Judgement and creativity to plan and deliver interventions according to the needs of the pupils and small pupil groups.
- Work with the teacher to establish an appropriate learning environment.
- Use specialist SEN and behaviour strategies, including Team Teach, to support self regulation and de-escalation in accordance with the school policies, effectively support the pupils in times of crisis.
- Support the use of ICT and develop pupil s competence and confidence in its use.
- Contribute to the overall ethos, work and aims of the school.
- Establish constructive relationships and communicate with other professionals to support the progress of the pupils.
- Supervise pupils on visits, trips and other school activities required.
Job Spec:
- GCSE English/Math and Science Grad A-C or equivalent.
- Specific training in interventions SEN/SEMH
- Commitment to all CPD offered
- Ability to relate well with children and adults
- To work constructively as part of a team, understanding school roles, responsibilities, and you own position with these.
- Relevant experience in a school or similar setting.
- Experience of working with children and young people with special educational needs/ or social emotional and mental health difficulties.
- Experience of supporting children with strategies to enable them to settle to learn.
- Understand knowledge of SEMH/SEN pupils.
- Knowledge of behavioural and self-regulation interventions.
- Full working knowledge of relevant safeguarding, equality and health and safety policies, code of practice and legislation.
