Kirklees Council are advertising this role on behalf of Shirley Manor Primary Academy.
We have an opportunity to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Pastoral and Learning Assistant who will provide academic, emotional and behavioural support to pupils with additional needs. You will work under the guidance of the SENCo and alongside colleagues in our Inclusion Team, to provide bespoke group work within a small classroom environment and 1:1 interventions with individual pupils.
The successful candidate will have the drive and initiative to make a positive difference to the lives of our children, and will demonstrate a commitment to supporting children, enabling them to have the best possible educational outcomes.
This post will also include some break time and lunchtime supervision.
We are looking for someone:
- With excellent communication, literacy and numeracy skills
- Who will promote the caring, friendly and child-centred ethos of our school
- Who will support access to learning for children with special educational needs (SEN), particularly those who display challenging behaviour due to SEMH needs (Social Emotional & Mental Health), and help them to develop their emotional resilience and self-regulation.
- Who will support class teachers in providing high quality teaching and learning opportunities for every child
- Who will form excellent relationships with all stakeholders and work successfully as part of a team
- Who has a good sense of humour and a positive manner
