Job description

Within this role, you will be responsible for engaging patients to bring in critical insights, creating meaningful Patient Engagement strategies and working in partnership with cross-functional teams to inform plans. You will help ensure that the Patient Engagement & advocacy initiatives are developed, executed and evolved in line with our Code of Ethics with the voice of the patient engrained throughout. You will assist the PE Lead in ensuring our daily operations run effectively and efficiently, identify and resolve upcoming issues, improve processes and channel information, ensure quality deliverables. Your responsibilities will include ensuring close collaboration the wider Corporate Affairs team on new and emerging trends and ensure execution of any new activities that may be required and leading special country or regional projects.
Key responsibilities:
• Strategic business partnering across business units to bring critical patient insights to advise corporate strategies
• Drive all patient advocacy and/or engagement activities in assigned geographical areas and build a patient centric reputation for Novartis
• Help to shape and be a champion for the Patient Engagement (PE) function at a time of change
• Build appropriate program engagement strategy, ensuring cross-functional alignment, including where relevant budget and resource allocation management. Put in place policies and systems to effectively implement the given strategy.
• Stay current with relevant information and resources regarding industry and health care legislation. Providing updates regularly to the disease communities.
• Work with communications and engagement, and public affairs managers to support initiatives with patient organisations and patient experts that are strategic, mutually beneficial and are aligned to business objectives, contributing to Novartis reputation
• Manage relationships with patients & patient organisations – according to the priorities of the business and in close collaboration with other key internal stakeholders
• Work with Franchises, HCPs and patient organisations to plan and implement short- and long-term programs to meet both business and disease community’s needs.
• Develop and conduct analysis, interpret results and make recommendations that support establishment of effective PE programs aligned with the organisation’s strategy
• Establish PE strategy, plans and content for the relevant franchise and related disease areas

Request

• Experience in either the Patient community or life science industry within a larger matrix environment
• The ability to interview patients and articulate their pain points as insights to the business
• Strong project management and organisational skills
• High attention to detail in governance and compliance
• Excellent knowledge of the patient advocacy environment as well as good knowledge of the regulatory and reimbursement environment
• Further qualifications in communications, public policy, politics, law, economics, and/or public health
• Resilient with a strong sense of empathy and willingness to learn
• Strong experience within communications and/ or patient engagement
• Excellent communication skills in verbal and written English
