Cleveland Clinic London are looking to recruit a Patient Safety Lead to join our Quality Assurance Team, with a competitive salary range depending on experience.
This is a full time role with the following shift patterns: Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 17:00pm.

The Patient Safety Lead promotes culture, systems and processes to ensure that the patient care delivered at Cleveland Clinic London is of the up most safety, in keeping with Cleveland Clinic London's “Patients First” approach.
The role will provide visible leadership, guidance and support to all Caregivers in the implementation of the Clinical Incidents Framework and Cleveland Clinic London's Risk Management Framework. It will support our clinicians and managers to deliver high quality investigations into significant Patient Safety incidents across the hospital that ensure we understand errors and learn from them appropriately and in a timely way. The post-holder will support retrospective review of incidents as well as prospective Patient Safety project work. They will work closely with our Health & Safety Risk Manager to ensure that all risks to Patient Safety are identified, controlled and reviewed regularly with our clinical and operational teams, and will facilitate and support performance improvement initiatives related to quality and governance metrics, and Patient Safety.

What will your duties include?
  • Provide comprehensive support to lead investigators in undertaking incident investigations using Root Cause Analysis technique, undertaking the lead role where appropriate. This will include support with information gathering, RCA panel management and report writing as appropriate.
  • Ensure that recommendations and action plans are SMART and address the root causes of the problems identified, including plans for sharing lessons learned.
  • Undertaking audits of RCA action completion
  • Oversee a system for managing RCA timescales to ensure that investigations are completed within policy timescale.
  • Providing comprehensive KPI and management data (including trends and themes) on a monthly basis to the hospitals governance meetings.
  • Work with our Patient Experience Manager to ensure that duty of candor is completed in a meaningful and timely way for our patients. The post-holder should work to ensure that patients and their families are included in a meaningful way and that the investigation answers questions which are important to them.
  • Provide expert advice on issues relating to Patient Safety, risk management and CQC compliance.
  • Support/lead the implementation of departmental and hospital-wide Patient Safety improvement projects using project management and continuous improvement methodology. This includes participation in Quality Improvement Working Groups and comprehensive review of Quality Improvement Plans.

What we need from you?
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Masters level qualification or equivalent preferred.
  • Demonstrable track record of leading risk management and Patient Safety in a regulated environment.
  • Substantial track record of Patient Safety experience in a healthcare organisation.
  • Recognised clinical qualification preferred.
  • PRINCE 2 certified.
  • Knowledge of CQC Key Lines of Enquiry.
