Job Introduction

A Patient Safety Officer is an NMC/HCPC registered clinician who will provide expert support to local delivery teams and play a key role in the development of a Patient Safety culture, including the implementation of safety systems and quality improvement activity at Vita Health Group. The postholder will able to think strategically, be skilled in engaging with multiple stakeholders and will bring organisational skills to Serious Incident investigation in alignment with the NHS Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF)
 
 

Skills and Experience:

Essential:
  • Interest in Patient Safety and improving healthcare services.
  • Professional healthcare accreditation (HCPC/NMC etc.) and experience of working within the health care sector.
  • Confident in working with multiple stakeholders.
  • Able to critically evaluate information and provide constructive challenge.
  • Ability to interpret complex information and evidence.
  • Ability to actively contribute to quality improvement plans and schedules through meetings and report writing.
  • Ability to work with patients/patient groups/family/carers to understand and be inclusive of their perspectives.
  • Personal integrity and commitment to openness, inclusiveness, and high standards.
  • Working knowledge of the NHS Patient Safety framework
 
Desirable:
  • Ability to think strategically.
  • Ability to work autonomously with effective time management skills.
  • Skills and experience in conducting investigations and managing complaints.
  • Experience of communicating with distressed people about sensitive issues and an ability to do this with compassions and self awareness
  • An awareness of and commitment to supporting and facilitating diversity and inclusion
  • Willingness to travel, which may include overnight stays on occasion, as and when required
