We are looking for a Payment Assistant to join the Children’s and Young People Payment Team (CYPPT). This role is primarily administrative with some finance-related responsibilities. The team are responsible for processing payments for all the looked after children that are cared for by NCC and those living with friends and family. The team support three different service areas for children looked after: Fostering, Permanence and Placements service. While finance qualifications are not required, the ideal candidate will have strong administrative skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
Day to Day of the Role:- Fostering Service: Process payment requests for fostering placements, working on a rota basis and liaising with social work teams.
- Permanence Service – Review forms are sent out to Adoption and Kinship carers. Once returned a means test assessment is carried out using the information provided on the forms. From there, payments will be set up/debt recovery. Team members are allocated carers from which they are to manage and liaise with.
- Placements Service – Using an internal software package to create shopping carts / processing invoices / liaising with external stakeholders and NCC colleagues. Team members are allocated vendors and will look after their accounts.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently.
- Quick learner with the ability to provide administrative support in a busy office environment.
- Finance experience is desirable but not essential.
- Strong communication skills for liaising with both internal and external parties.
- Competency in using internal software packages for financial processing.
- Experience of providing business support in a busy environment.
- Strong IT skills.
This is a full time role, 37 hours per week Monday-Friday 8.30am- 5pm. Hours can be flexible if needed. For the first 3 months, this post will be office based- this will then move to hybrid working.
