Starting Salary: £46,146.00 (pro-rata for part-time vacancies)

Part/Full Time: Full Time 

Contract Type: Secondment/fixed-term 

Working Pattern: Mon-Fri 

Weekend/Evening Working: No 

 

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to undertake the role of Payroll and Pensions Manager based at, North Kent, on a 1 year fixed term contract.

 

This is a challenging role that requires the successful candidate to provide specialist advice and resolve complex issues in all aspects of pay, taxation and Pensions. You will need to have the ability to interpret and apply relevant regulations, policies and legislations. You will drive forward change, assisting the section to deliver a cost-effective service. 

 

You will work as part of the Payroll Processing Team, alongside another 2 Payroll Managers, reporting to the Head of Payroll.

 

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience of at least 5 years’ experience in Payroll working with internal and external stakeholders and of working in a customer service environment. 

 

Applicants will provide evidence of the following skills/experience:

  • Your comprehensive understanding of salaries, allowances, Tax and National Insurance. 
  • Your comprehensive knowledge of Excel and extraction and manipulation of data
  • Your good communication skills and written skills.
  • Your organisational skills e.g. designing and implementing processes
  • Your experience and knowledge of SAP

 

Previous experience of working in a Public Service organisation together with knowledge of police pensions and the Local Government Superannuation Scheme would be of benefit.

 

This opportunity would suit a highly-motivated and dynamic individual who can bring their wide experience to this evolving collaborative Payroll and Pensions team, for both Essex Police and Kent Police.

Kent Police offer smarter working which designates that certain roles can have flexibility in terms of place of work, including the potential to work from home for those who would like to.

The specific requirements of this role will be discussed during the interview stages with candidates. In the event that home working is agreed for the successful candidate, there will be a requirement to regularly attend a contractual workplace, as agreed with the line manager.

 

Essex Police offer agile working which designates that certain roles can offer flexibility in terms of place of work, including some home working. The specific requirements of this role will be discussed during the interview stages with candidates. The extent of flexibility will be agreed through individual assessment with the line manager to assess operational requirements and individual’s suitability for home working.  In the event that home working is agreed for the successful candidate, there will be a requirement to regularly attend the contractual workplace, as agreed with the line manager.

 

 

Essex Police offer incremental increases within this salary band, therefore the salary for this position will rise to a maximum of £52,122.00.

Kent Police and Essex Police have separate salary grading systems therefore the salary for this position will be dependent on which home office force you are appointed to. This will be discussed with the successful applicant before a final offer is made.
