About the role:
As a payroll and finance assistant you are an integral part of a proactive finance team of 75 responsible for contracts, expenses, payroll, pensions and procurement.
In this exciting and varied role, you will be assisting within the Payroll & pensions team to ensure an efficient running of processes. You will use your meticulous attention to detail to ensure that Jisc’s policies and procedures are followed correctly. This role will work alongside two qualified payroll managers who are responsible for the completion of the main payroll processes.
Responsibilities will include:
- Processing staff expense claims on a bi-monthly basis.
- Reconciling the company’s credit card statements to invoices and summaries provided by the credit card holder and posting the journal for these expenses.
- Administering Jisc’s credit cards including adding new users, removing old users, and changing transaction limits as required on an ad hoc basis.
- Supporting the monthly financial accounting requirements of the business, including generating standard reports, producing monthly payroll journals, and liaising with central finance to ensure control accounts are reconciled.
- Preparing ad hoc payroll related payments for approval, as well as preparing and summarising the underlying data for the PAYE Settlement Agreement calculation for review by the director of taxation.
- Jointly managing the shared payroll inbox and dealing with queries relating to the processes set out above to resolve or escalate as appropriate.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Understanding of basic accounting principles.
- Good IT skills including a good all-round knowledge of Microsoft Office and expert level at Excel, including working with large volumes of data, pivot tables and v-look ups. If you also have knowledge of Ceridian Dayforce, SAP Concur, and/or Microsoft
- Exacting attention to detail, methodical attitude alongside excellent organisational skills.
- High levels of professional integrity with a flexible, innovative, enthusiastic and proactive approach to work.
