Isle of Wight College - Payroll Officer
Are you an experienced Payroll Officer looking for a new challenge? The Isle of Wight College seeks a dedicated professional to join our team on a fixed-term contract basis. This is an exciting opportunity for you to join the team and help us continue supporting our Island community.
This role will be initially fixed-term for 6-9 months, whilst we transition to our new HRIS/Payroll provisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage full payroll provision for the college staff.
- Process timesheets and handle expenses through payroll systems.
- Administer pension schemes and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Liaise with HMRC and manage tax-related tasks.
- Provide staff support and address payroll-related queries.
Qualifications:
- Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths is required.
- Professional certification (e.g., CIPP, CPP) is desirable.
Experience:
- Proven experience in payroll management.
- Familiarity with pension administration and HMRC regulations.
- Working knowledge of payroll/HMRC legislation
- Demonstrable experience of using Payroll systems, to process and manage payroll provisions
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in payroll software and MS Office Suite.
- Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.
- Good communication skills at all levels, both internally and externally to the College.
- Ability to work to strict deadlines, whilst remaining calm
- Ability to use initiative and judgement, understanding when to seek support.
- Ability to produce reports relating to payroll data, for transfer to management accounts teams
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
