Job description

This post is full time, 35 hours per week and is a fixed term maternity leave cover for 12 months from mid-April 2024. We are seeking to appoint an experienced People Adviser to join our Advisory Support Team within the People, Culture and Wellbeing department. This is a great opportunity to join a highly motivated team of People Business Partners and Advisors committed to providing professional advice and support to colleagues and senior managers on the interpretation and application of policy, legislation and best practice. You will manage a wide-ranging portfolio of casework including grievance and disciplinary issues, wellbeing support, ill health and capability. You will have a strong commitment to embracing diversity and promoting equality. To be successful in this role, you will have demonstratable HR generalist experience in a highly customer-focused organisation and have a sound understanding of current employment legislation together with extensive employee relations experience. The ideal candidate will be a skilled part qualified CIPD HR practitioner who is self-motivated, with strong people skills and the ability to communicate and work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders, working comfortably in a busy environment with ambiguity and rapidly changing agendas. This is an exciting time for the University as we work on delivering our 2022-2029 strategic plan, which is itself heavily focused on people matters and priorities.
