Job description

As an innovative and award winning multi-academy Trust, we understand that our success is driven by the talent, creativity, and diversity of our people. We are seeking a passionate and experienced People and Organisational Development Partner to join our team and contribute to our shared journey of growth and success.

This role will provide you with flexibility and autonomy to use your strategic and operational delivery skills to lead and participate in a variety of different projects, as well as day to day management of the HR offering, allowing you to be a true generalist.

Working to the Head of People and OD, you will support delivery of all aspects of the people agenda, to clarify, identify and deliver strategic objectives in line with Trust values and behaviours. You will be responsible for providing advice, guidance and driving initiatives to support the business strategy.

You must have experience working in a business partnering role and be able to demonstrate good working knowledge of UK employment law. You must have the ability to work with minimal supervision and lead projects where required.

In this role you will:

  • Manage and lead the provision of a high quality, responsive and comprehensive People service for the Trust.
  • Provide strategic Business Partner support to colleagues and leaders within our Trust, and ensure the provision of expert human resources management advice, guidance on employee relations, human resource policies and organisational and cultural change.
  • Ensure that the HR service is customer focussed, efficient, effective and delivered to the highest possible professional HR standards.
  • Develop and support the implementation of workforce programmes and policies to increase workforce productivity, enhance wellbeing and promote equity and inclusion to enable the organisation to achieve its strategic objectives.
  • Take a corporate role in driving the People agenda forward throughout the Trust, working in partnership with Managers, Staff Side Representatives, staff and other partners in ensuring that the Trust is an employer of choice and adopting excellent employment practice.

We’re looking for someone who leads with both compassion and ambition. You’ll be able to use your knowledge of people practice, analytical skills and outcomes focus to identify and take forward opportunities for improvement and people related projects as well as using your influencing and coaching skills to develop other leaders. You will be adept at thinking creatively, a strong team worker and tenacious in your approach. You’ll be comfortable with using data to inform your work and you can use your creativity to think outside the box, develop the HR offering and help take our organisation forward. Ideally you will be CIPD Level 7 qualified (or have equivalent experience).

This role will be based at Bridgwater College Academy, balanced with home working and you will need to be able to travel to other academies within the Trust. This is a fantastic opportunity to further develop your professional career, working with a great team.

If you would like to have an initial discussion about this role, please contact Jess Hardie, Head of People and OD at jessica.hardie@btc-trust.org

Closing Date: 31st January 2024.

We care about our staff and provide a number of benefits in addition to salary including a positive and supportive working environment, employer pension contribution of at least 23%, generous annual leave entitlement for all-year round staff, on-site gyms, free parking, access to a retail discounts platform and Employee Assistance Programme. Helping you achieve a good work life balance is important to us. Lots of our colleagues work flexibly including part time hours and/or job shares and we are happy to discuss these opportunities with you.

We truly believe that diversity of thought, culture, background and perspective secure the best outcomes for our students. We strive to build teams that represent our local communities and welcome applications from individuals who identify as members of an under-represented group and in particular individuals who identify as BAME, disabled or LGBT. We are committed to equality of opportunity for all staff and applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage and civil partnerships.
