What does a Performance and Projects Manager do at Hillingdon?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a newly redesigned service, focusing on optimising the customer journey and driving process efficiencies, whilst supporting our professionals in promoting place shaping and securing high quality and safe developments across the borough.
As a Performance and Projects Manager, you will play a pivotal role within the Planning, Regeneration and Environment service, managing a team of Officers and taking the lead in providing comprehensive support across the service, ensuring business activities are robust and underpinned by the use of data analytics and reporting.
You will be a key member of the Departmental Management Team, responsible for the delivery of outstanding support services that are responsive and adaptable to the changing demands of the business, whilst ensuring that a positive customer experience is at the heart of everything we do. You will be a trusted advisor to Service Managers and the wider Senior Management Team, supporting the delivery of service improvement initiatives and embedding a culture of continuous improvement.

About you

The Operations Service has ambitious plans to drive service improvement and pioneer new ways of working. We are looking for someone who will be able to effectively champion best practice and work collaboratively across the Directorate to ensure consistent, high-quality service provision.
Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate how they meet the below criteria:
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a business-related subject, or equivalent by experience.
  • Experience of identifying, evaluating, monitoring, and reporting on business risks.
  • Experience of identifying, developing innovative and cost-effective solutions that lead to improved customer service.
  • Significant experience of implementing and maintaining quality management, performance monitoring, management, and improvement systems.
  • Significant experience of managing Members Enquiries, Complaints or Freedom of Information requests.
  • Ability to manage the collation reporting of management information and performance statistics for local and national performance indicators.
  • Ability to think strategically, analyse and resolve problems in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Ability to draw qualitative and quantitative information from a range of sources, and present information in a manner appropriate to the recipients of the information.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to challenge appropriately.
  • Strong relationship management and negotiation skills and ability to work with internal and external stakeholders.
