We have an exciting opportunity for the post of a Personal Advisor in the Next Steps Service. If you are driven, flexible, highly motivated and passionate about doing the best for our care leavers of Stoke on Trent then this is the role for you. You will be joining a strong team who are passionate about improving the outcomes for care experienced young people from the age of 17:5 to 25 years.
We need a Personal Advisor who can support Care Leavers to achieve high aspirations and ambitions. Ensuring timely and meaningful visits and pathway planning for their future, build meaningful, trusting relationships where Care leavers feel safe, valued and respected so they have successful adult lives.
Stoke on Trent's care leavers are Our Children - as corporate parents, we have a duty and a moral responsibility to ensure that the steps they take into the adult world are supported and that we give them the help and guidance that they need.
Our ambition is that every care leaver ends up with the same support we’d give our own children. Do you want to be involved in helping us achieve that ambition?
The Leaving Care Service provides a statutory service to young people aged between 17-25 years who have been, or are Looked After by Stoke on Trent City Council.
The Leaving Care Team is committed to ensuring young people:
- are prepared and supported to live independently
- have improved access to education, employment and training
- experience stability in their lives, and feel safe and secure
- receive improved access to health support
- achieve financial stability
The Personal Advisor will play a key role in supporting young people with their transition to adulthood and assist them to live an independent life in their community.

This position is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the successful applicant will be subject to a criminal record check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
