Summary
I need a PA to help support my independence. I have EDS & am a semi-ambulatory wheelchair (power assisted) user. I need assistance with basic personal care (shower & dressing), household tasks, cooking, shopping & going out. There are no lifting or manual handling requirements.
I am easy going & cheerful with a young/flexible outlook on life. Our household is quite laid back & consists of my partner, our 14yr old daughter & our Bernedoodle puppy. We run our own IT company from home.
Ideally, I am looking to spread the hours over a Monday, Wednesday & Friday during the hours of 9-5, but this is not set in stone & I’m happy to be flexible for the right person.

All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required.
Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.
Description
Typical duties
Domestic -
Laundry – un/loading the washing machine, tumble dryer/washing line, putting away.
Changing bed linen.
Bed making.
General tidying, cleaning and housework, including cleaning, dusting and vacuuming.
Taking out rubbish/recycling.
Preparing drinks, snacks and meals including home baking & batch cooking.
Shopping.
Assisting in the garden (when I’m inclined).
Personal Care:
Assistance with showering – getting in & out, hair & back washing.
Help getting into and out of bath as required.
Assisting with drying & brushing hair as required.
Dressing and undressing – Assistance with Bra & Socks. Occasional support required with other clothing items/fastenings.
Assistance sorting tablets (eg. Removing tablets from foil/packets) into monthly organiser.
Helping with other aspects of personal care as required, eg. assisting employer to get changed at a swimming pool.
Occasional assistance with Physiotherapy exercises.
Social:
Accompanying and assisting employer on shopping trips when required.
Accompany employer when accessing social and leisure activities.
Accompanying employer to doctors/physio/hospital appointments when required.
Accompanying when clothes-buying, including help with un/dressing and lifting clothes on/off rails.
The above duties will likely involve driving the employer's automatic car (when I am unable) & using the wheelchair hoist to load/unload the wheelchair.
Person specification
The successful applicant will be:
Female due to personal care needs.
Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality.
Reliable.
Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative.
Hygienic.
Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties.
Honest.
Cheerful.
Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard.
Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom.
Non-smoker/vaper preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours.
Comfortable around dogs.
Have a UK driving Licence.
Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety
Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
