Personal assistant required to support an 8-year-old girl who has Cerebral Palsy, ASD and ADHD. She is a wheelchair user at times but prefers to walk. She will use her wheelchair if she becomes unsettled with her surroundings or if she is out for long periods and her legs become tired.
You will support the child with activities she chooses - along with the parent's agreement. Previous experience of working in a caring environment would be desirable.
The child is an extremely busy and bubbly little girl who responds well to those who are upbeat and willing to join in with her. You will need to be patient, flexible, energetic, trustworthy and have good communication skills. You will also need to be able to work on your own initiative and have ASD awareness with the ability to recognise and defuse meltdowns before the child reaches crisis. Due to incontinence, personal care may be required while supporting the child.
Likes: Being kept busy at parks, soft play, swimming/waterplay and shopping.
Dislikes: Noises, busy environments and big crowds.
