We have an new opportunity for a Personal Development Tutor (ESOL) to join the team on a part-time, permanent basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £27,388 Full Time Equivalent (pro rata £13,352.33 including holiday uplift).

About the role:


As the Personal Development Tutor (ESOL) you will be responsible for the tutorial and its implementation within the ESOL department and will report to the Learning Manager. In addition, you will liaise closely with the Cross College Personal Development Manager to ensure consistency of delivery and share best practice.


Responsibilities as our Personal Development Tutor (ESOL) will include:


  • Developing a relationship with their cohort of ESOL students, providing a trusted friendly point of contact, to promote a healthy transition from school to college whilst ensuring students develop personally and socially.
  • Working with students to promote pastoral and academic success, self-esteem, self-confidence and achievement.
  • Delivering the weekly tutorial
  • Monitoring student progress to ensure progress is being made through close liaison with departmental teaching staff including those teaching English and mathematics
  • Reporting regularly to the Learning Manager on students who are a cause for concern.
  • Working closely with teaching team to monitor and ensure excellent attendance of students within their cohort.
  • Maintaining and updating student records systems to facilitate communication and the reporting of data
  • Liaising between student/Director of Learning/Learning Managers/subject teacher/student support/parents or carers.

As our Personal Development Tutor (ESOL), you’llideally have:


  • Knowledge of post-16 education and training
  • Proven track record of success in supporting young people
  • Previous experience of working with young people or adults where English is not their first language
  • Confidence in providing constructive challenge when required
  • Degree or equivalent professional relevant experience.
  • The ability to travel between sites and to meet external commitments
