PE/Teaching AssistantLevel 3 Apprentice
Hours: 37 hours per week, term time plus 5 training days, hours to be discussed.
Rate of Pay: Rate of Pay: Walsall maintained Schools pay the minimum wage for Apprentices which is currently £6.40 per hour, if the Apprentice is 19 years old and over this is only for the first 12 months and then increases to National Minimum Wage per age for the second year.

We are currently seeking an apprentice to work in conjunction with class teachers and school staff to support all aspects of Physical Education across all age groups. Beacon Primary are offering the successful candidates an opportunity to gain a qualification through an apprenticeship in PE Teaching Assistant Level 3 in partnership with Heart of England eart Training.
Role Description:
The successful applicants will work in our school 5 days per week and will be given time to complete the high-quality tuition and practical training.
- You will be expected to work term time only plus 5 training days
- In school you would be tasked with supporting and leading PE lessons, lunch and playtime activities, clubs and events to raise the profile of PE and school sport in schools.
- You may also be requested to support school with after school sports activities.
- You will also lead (with support) your respective Schools’ participation on local games’ competitions.
- You will also be encouraged to introduce projects across school to enrich the schools existing school offer. This may include using some school sports budget (with leadership guidance).
- We will offer you mentor support in school, excellent training opportunities and additional sports qualifications.
Essential requirements:
- Passionate about PE and school sports.
- Hold GCSE English and Maths – A minimum of Grade C or equivalent desirable but not essential.
- The candidate must be passionate about working with children and developing the school’s physical activity offer, developing themselves individually and furthering their career.
- Previous coaching experience is desirable but not essential.
- Be able to follow safeguarding and child protection procedures and the ability to handle confidential information.
- The post is subject to safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS; two suitable references, Prohibition check (where applicable); Childcare Disqualification (where applicable); qualifications (where applicable); medical fitness; identity, right to work checks will be required.
An online search will also be carried out as part of due diligence on all short-listed candidates.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020.
