Job description

This 4 year PhD project is fully funded for home students and EU students with settled status. Fees cover tuition fees and provide a tax free (depending on circumstances) allowance set at the UKRI rate (£19,237 for 2024/25). The start date is 1st October 2024. This project will focus on the development of membrane-less Redox Flow battery systems for grid-scale energy storage. We will use novel aqueous electrolytes and new types of cell chemistries as well as “bespoke” systems based on organic molecules. Applicants should have, or expect to achieve, at least a 2.1 honours degree or a master’s (or international equivalent) in a relevant science or engineering related discipline. Before applying, please contact Prof Robert Dryfe (robert.dryfe@manchester.ac.uk) to discuss the application.
