Job description

When a child is diagnosed with cancer life becomes full of fear, for them and their family. Fear of treatment, but also of families being torn apart, overwhelming money worries, of having nowhere to turn, no one to talk to.
At Young Lives vs Cancer, we help children and young people (0-25) and their families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. Join us and your skills will make a real difference to the lives of young cancer patients.
About the role
As the Philanthropy Lead, you will take the lead in delivering the organisational Philanthropy strategy. You’ll be part of the wider Philanthropy and Partnerships team working to deliver first-class supporter experience and bring our donors closer to our work than ever before, through a dedicated donor programme, focused on excellent stewardship, creative appeals, and dedicated donor communications.
We are looking for a driven, experienced, and resourceful fundraising professional with impressive communication skills and a proven record of working with high value donors, trusts and foundations. In this role you will build and foster positive relationships with philanthropic donors and grant-making organisations, providing excellent stewardship and account management, and creating sustainable partnerships. You would be managing an established trusts programme and leading on developing our philanthropy programme.
As the organisational expert on all things philanthropy, you will have a high level of autonomy and will need to use your initiative and take a hands-on approach for developing and driving forward opportunities.
Young Lives vs Cancer is open to and in support of flexible working. Your flexibility requirements and that of the role will be discussed at interview stage with you.
This role is part home, part office based. You will have the opportunity to work from home within the parameters of our hybrid working arrangements, with 2 days a week in the Bristol/London office.
We would love to hear from you if you have:
Demonstrable experience of personally working with and securing significant (at least six-figure) grants from high value audiences (e.g. trusts, foundations, companies, major donors). Experience of (or significant involvement in) stewardship programme development / programme design and exceptional relationship management
Experience of liaising and communicating with colleagues at all levels of an organisation (including Executive and Trustee).
High level of influencing and negotiation skills, with a strong understanding of the needs of all high value audiences.
Exceptional written skills and ability to absorb complex information and translate it into it in a clear, logical and appropriate communications.
Technical skills and strong understanding of project cycle management.
