Our client, a cancer health and wellbeing charity have an opportunity for a motivated Philanthropy Officer to join their friendly fundraising team.

Philanthropy Officer (Trusts and Major Donors)

Contract: Permanent
Hours: Part time - 22.5 hours per week (worked over minimum 3 days)
Salary: £26,500 - £28,000 pro-rata, per annum, depending on experience
Location: This is a hybrid role with flexibility to work from home (upon agreement) in addition to the their National Centre on the outskirts of Bristol
Benefits: 30 days holiday pro rata, plus 8 bank holidays, pro-rata

Building on your existing knowledge across Trusts and Major Donors you will play an integral part within the team as you support the Philanthropy Manager by undertaking research and prospecting into new opportunities and coordinating applications. With a particular focus on Trusts this role will lead on relationship management and development of funding propositions.

Their team of cancer support experts (including doctors, nutritionists, counsellors and exercise therapists) helps people with cancer to feel more physically and emotionally able to manage the impacts of their diagnosis and treatment, be more in control of their choices and have the best quality of life possible. By making their services freely available, their aim is for all people with cancer to be able to access the high-quality support they need. To help make this a reality, they are seeking a Philanthropy Officer to help secure income from Trusts and Major Donors. You will help the Philanthropy Manager to identify projects/activities that that require funding and compose quality and timely applications/proposals to new and existing funders/donors. You will also support in the creation of excellent stewardship communications ensuring both Trusts and Majors Donors feel valued and at the heart of the work at the charity.

The successful candidate will have experience working within fundraising, within charitable Trusts and grant making organisations being a big advantage. Within the role, you will be responsible for a proportion of their Trust pipeline, researching, cultivating, and submitting high-quality applications in addition to holding relationships with a smaller number of low-level Major Donors. As a result, it is essential that you have excellent relationship management and stewardship skills, face-to-face, in writing and on the phone. In addition, you’ll have demonstratable experience of approaching and/or engaging with supporters to raise funds and have the skills to ask for donations. You will be responsible for managing the schedule of stewardship communications and reports to Trusts and Major Donors and therefore will have strong organisational skills with the ability to manage and take responsibility for your own workload.
