Job title: Philanthropy Support Lead

Salary: £27,471 – £34,848

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (flexible working will be considered)

Location: Mix of home working and office based (office is at Alder Hey, Liverpool)

About this role:

We are recruiting for a Philanthropy Support Lead to work within the Philanthropy team here at Alder Hey, the UK’s busiest Children’s Hospital.

The Philanthropy team raises vital income from major donors, charitable trusts, foundations and other funders. This is a key role to support the team and help implement the Philanthropy strategy to reach new audiences and grow sustainable income.

We’re looking for a proactive team player who loves organising events and has a structured approach to administration, research and data. Charity experience is desirable but not essential, we’re very open to candidates from other sectors who have transferable skills. You’ll also be calm under pressure, self-motivated and an excellent collaborator. If you’re excited by the sound of this, we’d love to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities will include:

Event management

  • Manage the organisation of a programme of philanthropy events; from individual visits and tours of the hospital for donors, private dinners, through to larger events such as Gala Balls.
  • Build strong relationships with colleagues and clinicians in the Trust to support, coordinate and plan events.
  • Lead on liaising and negotiating with venues and third-party suppliers to ensure that events are delivered to the highest standards.
  • Prepare event briefings for Charity and Trust colleagues, so that all participants understand their role and contribute effectively.
  • Track, monitor and report to the Head of Philanthropy, CEO and Trustees on event plans and performance against KPIs.

Administration, Processes and Data

  • Oversee administration for the team, including thanking, minute taking and meeting organisation, ensuring the work is of a high standard, professional and accurate.
  • Development and ongoing management of the CRM database processes (Salesforce) for Philanthropy, including insight and reporting information for financial and performance tracking, segmentation and pipeline management.
  • Responsibility for preparing data for philanthropy mailings and event lists, including recording details on Salesforce.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the Finance Team, working together to provide smooth processes.
  • Delivery of prospect research requirements, including donor profiles, network analysis, sector research and due diligence reports, ensuring all processes are compliant with our privacy policy, data protection legislation and prospect research best practice.

Other Duties

  • Be an active and supportive member of the Alder Hey Children’s Charity team, contributing to the team’s development and working collaboratively with colleagues and volunteers.
  • Be an outstanding advocate for Alder Hey Children’s Charity and represent the Charity at functions and events, in line with the values of the organisation, to promote the objectives of the Charity.
  • Be an active and supportive member of the Alder Hey Children’s Charity Team, contributing to the team’s development and working collaboratively with colleagues and volunteers.
  • Any other reasonable duties as required by your line manager.
