An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Band 4 Physiotherapy Technician working in the Mental Health Physiotherapy Team in Swansea. The post will move between the Mental Health Physiotherapy Team based in Cefn Coed Hospital and the Swansea Care Home In-Reach Team ( CHIRT) based in Ty Garngoch, Gorseinon. This offers an opportunity to gain experience in both areas.
This post will work opposite another Band 4 post- holder within the team.
The role will be varied, allowing you to use a variety of physical skills as we aim to enhance our patients abilities as far as possible. Our work is primarily on our Older Persons Wards in CCH Swansea and within our Care Homes with our Care home team based in Ty Garngoch, Gorseinon. This is a very rewarding area and the team is known to be innovative, forward thinking and creative. If you think you may be interested Please let us know and a team member can chat to you. Ideally you will have some experience in dealing with Older People who have a mental Health condition either within the NHS, Care sector or Leisure Industry.

Provide support for the Qualified Physiotherapists in both teams assisting with treatments.
Undertake individual caseload in accordance with guidance from qualified staff, involving working off-site at times.
Take responsibility for planning, and executing exercise groups for Older Persons Mental Health Service (OPMHS) on the wards.
Assist with supervising some patients using exercise equipment
Work independently within agreed parameters for walking aid and mobility assessments. To independently monitor patients progress on individual treatment programs including the use of outcome measures.
Be responsible for making initial investigations of problems arising with specialist chairs and to relate to the qualified staff any findings. This may include making minor adjustments or making decisions about parts required.
To partake in the education of the MDT, care staff, relatives and others according to designated tasks.
To process referrals, and undertake administrative tasks including filing, ordering supplies/ equipment discharging cards, compiling data for Physiotherapy Service Managers in terms of number of referrals etc.
