  • LOCATION(S):Edinburgh, Bristol or Leeds
  • SALARY:£57,546 - £63,940
  • HOURS:Full-time
  • WORKING PATTERN:Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.

Are you passionate about colleagues and the environments they work in? Do you want to drive tangible progress in helping the Group deliver on its purpose? If this sounds like you, look no further!
The Places Costs team sits within People & Places Chief Operating Office, and we work closely with our friends in Places and Finance on what and how we spend our Run and Investment funding to make a difference to our colleagues and customers. Our team also plans when and where fixed assets are replaced across the estate, joining the dots to Helpdesk jobs, Sustainability, and strategy. Alongside Property Divisional Advocates and Group Finance, we own how we charge our internal customers for the spaces they use.
The role will place you into a small but high impact, friendly, and dynamic group of people who work collaboratively to make the changes happen faster. We often support each other and wider People & Places priorities, so you may get involved in projects outside of immediate team remit.
In this varied role, you’ll:
  • Be a driving force across multiple teams to ensure we are spending our investment and BAU funding on the right things.
  • Get involved in Fixed Asset investment planning, including how we meet the Group’s Sustainability pledges to de-gas the estate and how we protect and maintain our buildings.
  • Ensure we have financial oversight of Reactive Helpdesk spend, understand what we are spending our money on and is it on the ‘right’ things, link up with the Operational teams to understand what is happening on the ground.
  • Analyse multiple data sources to answer questions, identify issues in our estate and support cost prioritisation decisions.
  • Support spend approvals processes to ensure we are spending our money on the right things.
  • Find opportunities to make change happen faster across our processes.
  • Support report writing, including monthly updates to senior collaborators across both People & Places.

What you’ll need:
  • Financial awareness and experience of budget/forecasting, project accounting useful. Identifying trends to unlock opportunities and maximise funding impact.
  • Data savvy - experience extracting insights from data and translating detail into simple messages. You’ll love data and turning it into action.
  • Inspiring change - you’ll be skilled at influencing, challenging, and leading partners to drive pace & improve outcomes for colleagues.
  • Storytelling - articulate and experienced in supporting report writing and crafting presentations as well as communicating those to colleagues up to leadership level.
  • Solving problems - a keen curiosity & experience in problem solving with ability to think critically. You’ll breakdown complexity into logical structure, whilst understanding the big picture
  • ‘No job is too small’ demeanour - comfortable getting hands-on as well as taking a step-back and thinking strategically.
  • Self-motivation is key - proactively identify issues / opportunities & address them.
