Planning Officer

We are currently hiring for a Planning Officer for a local authority in Totnes. This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside other Planning Officers in the Planning Service and work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

You will manage a case load of planning applications, pre-applications, and other relevant applications of mainly householder and smaller applications types.

*** This is a contract running from Monday 22nd January until Friday 29th March***

Job Description: -

• Assessing a range of planning applications in negotiation with applicants, professional agents, and other consultees, applying the appropriate policies fairly and consistently.
• Discussing and negotiating during the pre-application stage for a range of application proposals.
• Dealing with planning appeals through written representation, and hearings.
• Producing and presenting clear and accurate reports articulating clearly both the proposal, the key determining issues and setting out appropriate recommendations.

Candidate: -

• Essential to have a degree in Town and Country Planning/Urban and Regional Planning (or similar/equivalent) or working towards this.
• Excellent working knowledge of planning legislation, national planning policy and planning reforms.
• Ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure.

Working Week: -

• Monday to Friday 09.00am - 17.00pm
