Here's what you'll be doing
We’re currently looking for an experienced Plant Operator to join our team at Blackburn Meadows Biomass Power Station in Sheffield. Here you’ll ensure the plant is operated safely and efficiently. Working a shift pattern in a small team you will support the Shift Team Leader in identifying and rectifying operational problems. Health & Safety is of paramount importance in this role, and you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the plant. Whilst industry experience is not essential, plant experience is a must, so that you’re capable of delivering to operational and commercial targets from the outset.
Responsibilities include
Ensure that the plant is operated safely, professionally and effectively to ensure optimal plant performance.
Support the Shift Team Leader.
Develop a full understanding of the operational characteristics of the installed plant.
Utilise skills and experience to minimise the effects of operational difficulties.
Promote trust and good working relationships within the immediate team, with other shift teams, site maintenance teams, off-site staff and the site customers.
Develop operational and task area procedures.
Understand the commercial aspects of plant operation and ensure that all Supply Contract conditions are met.
Identify techniques and operational aspects to promote plant optimisation.
Ensure that communication to third party suppliers is effective.
What we need from you
Substantial relevant experience gained within a similar role and industry.
Competency to undertake control room and outside operator roles.
Experience of operating within safety, environmental and operational policies, frameworks and statutory legislation.
The ability to perform key safety roles for the site including Nominated Supervisor and Competent Person.
Broad maintenance experience gained from a relevant discipline area (electrical, mechanical or C&I).
Good understanding and awareness of environmental, commercial and legal issues and their impact on plant operating conditions.
Competency in hazard identification and risk assessment and management of risks.
Competency to enact the role of emergency and incident controller.
IT literacy skills.
It would be great if you had
ONC/NVQ Level 3, or equivalent qualification, in a related engineering discipline (electrical, mechanical or C&I).
Relevant safety qualification - IOSH.
An understanding of the plant’s processes and systems.
Here’s what you need to know
The salary range for this role is £50,519 - £56,131. This is inclusive of shift allowance and contract hours allowance.
This role will involve working 12-hour shifts; 2 days, 2 nights, 6 off.
