Platform Engineer
Salary: £66,861 to £74,290
Location: Bristol
Hours: Full time
Working Pattern: Our work style is hybrid, at least 2 days per week in our Leeds office.
About this opportunity
This position will play a critical role in continuing the extensive LBG transformation programme, we're redefining what a bank is from the inside out. Our technology, our culture, and our mind-set is changing to become a truly data centric organisation where technology and data are key pillars of our transformation strategy. We are looking to evolve our Data Analytics and AI capability in Cloud Services, where we enhance the platform offering to enable the exploitation of data and analytics in the public cloud. This will mean leveraging Google Cloud Platform capabilities, products and services.
Here’s where you’ll make a difference
The Group People & Places Data Hub is the central Data & Analytics function for the P&P division.
  • As a DevOps Engineer, you'll have hands-on responsibility for the provisioning and support of DevOps component in the Route to Live process of data pipelines.
  • You will have a real passion for data combining next generation cloud technology with Colleague data and insight.

What you’ll need
  • Strong, hands-on experience in Google Cloud technologies such as Big Query, Data Proc, Data Catalog, Cloud Composer is a huge plus.
  • Experience with Kubernetes (GKE) is essential.
  • Very strong DevOps skill set with expertise in tools like Jenkins, Spinnaker, Nexus, and Git.
  • Experience working with agile development methods & tooling e.g. Kanban, Jira & Confluence, and working as part of an agile team.
  • Strong knowledge of modern software development toolsets including Cloud hosting, Web App development, API's, DevOps Continuous Integration and Delivery.
  • The ability to liaise and collaborate with Software Engineers
  • Provisioning components and services such as Helm Templates.
  • Knowledge and deployment of containerized applications/microservices architecture
  • Able to take initiative and help upskill team members.
  • Do you have experience in programming and scripting? Excellent! These skills are vital to this role.
  • We'd need you to have a sound experience of CI/CD across various tooling and methodologies.
  • Understanding of security principles within cloud technologies
  • Experience on API management platform (Apigee, API Connect), Dynatrace, Adobe Analytics and General Data Analytics

Desirable skills include
  • Cloud Platforms - GCP
  • Containerisation - Kubernetes / Docker /
  • CI/CD- GitHubActions / Spinnaker
  • Security Controls Scanning -NexusIQ/ Nexus Firewall / Nexus Lifecycle /Sonarqube
  • Infrastructure as Code e.g. Chef, Terraform, Ansible
