About Us

Monday to Friday, school term time – hours variable

Start date September 2024

Belleville Primary School is building a team to run our brand new breakfast club and after school club programme, launching in September 2024.

Hours will be dependent on whether you support the breakfast club, the after school club or both.

Breakfast Club working hours are 7:15am to 9:00am Monday to Friday.

After School Club working hours are 2:45pm to 6:30pm Monday to Friday.

We seek enthusiastic, positive people who work well with children, staff and parents, and can remain calm when there is lots going on!

You will support children to participate in engaging and enriching activities, and make sure they follow relevant policies and procedures to ensure their safety and wellbeing.

This is a brand new provision, and an exciting development for the school.

The role will involve:

Providing care for the children attending the programme, supervising them during activities and when eating, and ensuring they feel safe and looked after at all times.

Encouraging positive behaviour (“Making the Right Choices”), independence and self-esteem.

Making sure equipment is set up, used, maintained and put away safely.

Ensuring the safe transfer of children to class (after breakfast club) or collection (after school).

For more details about the role and what we are looking for, please download the attached job description and person specification.

You will have:

experience of working with children of Primary School age

an understanding of good quality childcare

an understanding of safeguarding and child protection duties

the ability to engage children in fun and developmental activities

empathy, sensitivity and great communication skills

high expectations of yourself and others.

Belleville is an ambitious, vibrant and supportive place to work.

Ofsted (March 2022) say:

Pupils thrive at Belleville. Pupils speak with enthusiasm about the rich curriculum they learn. Pupils behave very well and engage positively with their learning

Staff are proud to work at Belleville. They receive extensive professional development and are appreciative of this. They feel their workload is well managed by leaders who welcome their input on how the school operates.

We are a very successful, popular, outstanding school with a focus on positive learning behaviour and high expectations for all children. We have two school sites (Belleville Webbs and Belleville Meteor), a fantastic staff team and a supportive parent/carer community.

We are in a vibrant area of south London with excellent transport links. Our proximity to Clapham Junction gives us easy access to central London and out across the south of England.

We have strong systems in place to help children achieve, so learning behaviour is excellent here. We provide amazing enrichment opportunities including visits, trips and clubs. We have a committed staff team, supportive parents and carers, and most importantly, truly incredible children!

Belleville is part of Quality First Education (Q1E), a successful Multi-Academy Trust with four Primary Schools on five sites across south London. This is an exciting time for us and we want the best people to join us. We would love to hear from you.

A Job Description and Person Specification can be downloaded below.

Please email your completed Q1E Application Form and Equal Opportunities Form to recruitment@q1e.org.uk. Please title your email “Belleville Play Worker.”

Closing date: 16 May 2024 (at noon)

Note on Safeguarding:

The trust and its schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

All staff are required to read and comply with policies and procedures relating to Child Protection and Safeguarding, and report concerns to the appropriate person. Our child protection and safeguarding policy can be found on our website.

All our roles are school-based and will involve some work with children. Therefore:

It is an offence to apply for the role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity with children.

You will be required to obtain an enhanced disclosure via the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
