Playgroup Leader

The staff works in partnership to ensure the children are provided with a warm, safe and nurturing environment. The staff have all worked within the setting for a long period of time and are a key resource in the success of our playgroup. We require our staff to be child centred and willing to go the extra mile to make sure that our children reach their full potential.The Playgroup Leader will be responsible for the day to day running of the setting to ensure stimulating play in a safe, caring and welcoming environment for children and their families in line with DHSSPS Minimum Standards for Childminding and Day Care for Children Under Age 12, the Children (Northern Ireland) Order 1995, and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.This will involve planning, preparing and delivering play based activities appropriate for children aged 3-4 years. You will be required to:Lead short, medium and long term planning for the group with the input of other team members.Assess, monitor and record observations of each childs individual development.Be responsible for the management and development of the playgroup staff including the allocation and monitoring of work, appraisal and training.Develop the Playgroup in terms of reputation and growth..

QCF Level 5 Diploma in Childrens Care, Learning and Development or Playwork or a relevantOccupational Qualification in Early Years education, social work, nursing, teaching, or health visiting.

Good knowledge and understanding of Northern Ireland Preschool Curriculum Guidelines.

A minimum of 2 years paid experience leading and supervising members of staff in an Early Years setting.

Good understanding of child protection and the minimum standards.

BA Hons Degree in Earl y Childhood Studies, or Degree Level Qualification in Early Years.

Experience of ETI Inspections.

Demonstrate an understanding of developing policies and procedures.

Experience of Pre-School Education Programme (PSE PSEP) Funding.

Experience of observations and planning.

Knowledge of child development including age age-appropriate areas of learning.

Experience of developing short, medium and long long-term planning for an Early Years setting.
