Multi-skilled Tradesperson (Heating & Plumbing)

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time (37 hours per week)

What is the role?

We want a multi-skilled tradesperson to carry out all types of heating & plumbing trade work to a high-quality servicing & repairs service for Silva occupied properties. You will need to have the ability to undertake a range of work from, repairing taps to replacing baths, hot water cylinders, and cold-water storage cisterns.

You will be working in the repairs and maintenance team but, depending on the volume of work you may be asked to work with the void repairs and service. We are one team, where all colleagues are expected to work together to achieve great services for our customers.

What will you be doing here?

• Providing a high-quality multi-skilled Plumbing & Heating repairs service in occupied & void properties and the wider repairs and servicing team as required.
• Undertaking works as instructed within all buildings owned or maintained by Silva Homes to the competent standard. Complete all paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.

Level 2:

Undertake multi-trade activities as appropriate in the completion of your duties, including, minor plastering repairs, repairs to tiling, silicon sealing, drainage work and a vast array of plumbing repairs.

Level 3:

You will need to have the ability to undertake a range of work from, repairing gutters, remove/fit a bath, minor plastering, tiling, minor decoration, drainage, change taps, fit a sink, diagnose a variety of faults associated with plumbing and heating systems.

• Be responsible for your Silva Homes assigned vehicle, undertake maintenance checks on a weekly basis as per the driver’s/operator’s handbook and ensure an adequate supply of stock in order to undertake your assigned jobs.
• Carry out and detail work in accordance with the current schedule of rates for the Silva Homes repairs & maintenance service.
• Notify the Gas & Plumbing Manager of any health and safety defects within properties and communal areas and make recommendations for rectifying them.
• Always ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation, other relevant legislation and guidelines as set out in the Silva Homes Policies and Procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of work undertaken and time taken daily.
• To participate in and become a member of the out of hours team as required on a rota basis.

Skills and experience

Achieve and demonstrate trade competencies for multi skilled tradesperson.

Repairing and replacing if necessary, sanitaryware in bathrooms, replacing baths, basins, toilets etc.

When replacing baths, the ability to replace the studwork, bath panel and small tiling repairs.

Repairing and Replacing taps.

Repairs to hot water systems including unvented hot water systems.

Locate and repair leaks in residences and communal areas.

Gutter repairs and cleaning.

Repair or replace radiator valves and radiators.

Diagnose heating faults and repair i.e. pumps and zone valves

Repairing or replacing electric showers as necessary.

Repairs or replacing wastewater pumps in disabled access wet rooms.

Any other plumbing related repairs we may need completed.

Minor plastering works.

Minor decoration works.

Drainage works.

Ensure that all work is completed to the defined quality and technical standards.

Good knowledge of current maintenance techniques and use of the correct equipment.

Good organisational skills, a problem solver who uses their own initiative.

Good communication skills, both oral, written and good numeracy skills.

Ability to work on own initiative, be self-motivated and ability to work as part of team.

Qualifications and other requirements

• Achieve and demonstrate the trade competencies for a gas engineer (Inc. CCN1 Gas Safety: Elements - Heating Wet, Heating Warm Air, Cookers) to enable common gas or heating works to be completed.
• Competent in domestic boiler and heating system fault find diagnosis to include electrical fault finishing.
• Hold current certificate for:
• - UVHW unvented hot water systems, install, commission and service
• - Hold current A.C.S Certificate and elements to include CCN1, CEN 1, WAT 1, HTR 1 and - CKR 1 (DAH 1 and CMDDA1 are desirable)
• - WRAS qualification
• Commercial quals or experience (Desirable but not essential)
• A full clean driving licence.
