Reed Secure are seeking experienced police investigators to join the Public Protection portfolio department of one of the UK's largest police forces. This role is crucial in supporting the Capital’s police force in investigating offences and ensuring the safety and protection of the public. The positions are stationed at multiple locations across London.
Police Staff Investigator Summary
• Annual Salary: £37,289 (including London weighting plus benefits)
• Location: Various locations across London
• Job Type: Full-time, 2-year fixed-term contract
Day to Day of the Role:
• Taking written and video recorded statements from victims and witnesses, involving detailed interviews to gather relevant information.
• Assisting in the preparation and interviewing of suspects.
• Identifying vulnerability in persons involved in investigations and providing appropriate support, including regular updates on the investigation’s progression.
• Collaborating with partner agencies such as Social Care, health, and education.
• Gathering evidence by reviewing and collating documentary evidence, including third-party material.
• Completing applications for examinations of digital media and forensic submissions.
• Preparing and presenting evidence for court proceedings in both Magistrates and Crown Court.
• Using internal IT systems to research and maintain records regarding individuals and investigations.
• Conducting further enquiries as requested by the Supervising Officer(s) or the BCU Public Protection Superintendent.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• PIP 2 (Professionalising Investigation Programme) qualification is ideal.
• Must undergo OST / ELS training.
• Investigative background with experience in compiling files and interviewing.
• Knowledge of criminal law and police procedures.
• Intermediate IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to appraise, evaluate, collate, and present information/evidence.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to interact with staff at all levels and the public.
• Self-motivated and disciplined, able to work independently and as part of a team.
