Job summary
Providing Policy and External Affairs support to the Chief Executive and the Council's leadership team.
Duties and responsibilities

• Act as a strategic partner to the Chief Executive and Leadership Team, building positive and effective relationships across the council and beyond.
• Ensure effective communication with senior councillors and External stakeholders.
• Work with a high degree of autonomy and initiative, independently providing policy support including briefings, special projects, research etc
• Organise events with stakeholders and the workforce to a professional standard.
• Make a significant contribution to the effective governance of the council and delivery of key corporate priorities.

Skills and experience required

• Technical and/or organisational knowledge in policy development and External Affairs.
• Experience of provision of executive / policy development / External Affairs support to a senior leader in a comparably complex organisation and/or experience in a senior leadership role.
• Experience of successfully managing projects.
• Excellent analytical/research skills and ability to summarise complex information effectively to aid decision-making
