Port Health Officer-
Initial 6 months contrct - with view to extend.
To fulfill various legal obligations aimed at protecting public health.
To perform Official Controls, including inspections of imported animal products and high-risk non-animal food items to ensure the safety of food entering the market.
To conduct inspections of organic food, combat illegal fishing, examine animal-derived products, and oversee other regulated goods.
To play a pivotal role in advancing the health protection and business goals of the Border BCP.
To oversee and manage the activities of Senior Port Health Support Officers, Port Health Support Officers, and Port Health Support Assistants.
To act as the Principal Port Health Officer in their absence or as needed. (Senior Port Health Support Officers).
Essential qualifications
MSc, Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health and Certificate of Registration with the Environmental Health Registration Board EHRB (CIEH)
Higher Certificate in Food Control awarded by the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB);
Higher Certificate in Official Control awarded by the Scottish Food Safety Officers Registration Board (SFSORB)
Advanced Professional Certificate in Food Hygiene and Standards Control (APC)
Higher Certificate in Food Premises Inspection awarded by the EHRB, IFST or the SFSORB
