About The Role

Post Room Operative / Roof Safety Patrol Officer

London
£12.20 per hour
Mon-Fri
07:00-17:00

We are seeking a versatile individual to fill a unique hybrid role encompassing two key responsibilities. In the mornings, as a Post Room Operative, you will be responsible for efficiently managing incoming and outgoing mail, ensuring timely and accurate distribution within the organization. In the afternoons, transiting into the role of a Roof Garden Patrol Officer, where your focus will be on maintaining a secure and welcoming environment for visitors.

An SIA badge is required for this role.

Post Room Operative (Morning)

It is the role and responsibility of the Post Room Operative is to:

  • Assist in the running of the loading bay, as dictated by the Loading Bay Supervisor.
  • Ensure that the loading bay area is secured and operates to a high level.
  • Manage and handle regular post and courier deliveries, including packages of various sizes and large sacks.
  • Utilize IT proficiency to log all incoming and outgoing post digitally on the My-Tag Post Room System.
  • Operate the Rapi-Scan equipment to scan small and medium parcels.
  • Respond to emails and phone calls related to post inquiries and notifications.
  • Coordinate with tenants to ensure accurate and timely delivery notifications.
  • Efficiently manage the dispatch of outbound packages to designated couriers.
  • Manage bulk collections with Royal Mail in the evening and coordinate daytime drop-offs by tenants into relevant mailboxes.
  • Handle and organize Dry-Cleaning deliveries located in the Post Room.
  • Manage external shelves for oversized deliveries, ensuring proper placement for the relevant company.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Post Room.
  • Deliver smaller packages, items etc directly to the occupiers on a ADHOC basis.

    Skills required:

  • IT proficiency for digital post management systems and communication.
  • Physical capability to handle heavy packages.
  • Ability to operate scanning equipment (training provided).
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for tenant interactions and courier coordination.
  • Willingness to attend relevant training course.

Roof Garden Patrol Officer (Afternoon)

It is the role and responsibility of the Roof Safety Officer to:

Roof/Patrol

  • Patrol the roof garden and report any suspicious activity to the control room.
  • Safely evacuate the public during emergencies.
  • Lock/unlock roof garden entry points.
  • Vigilance against unsafe behaviours, such as jumping over water features.
  • Provide information about the building and local area.
  • Patrol all areas related to the roof garden, including 360 patrols.
  • Escort visitors via stairs if they prefer.
  • Report suspicious activity or damages to the control room.
  • Respond to toilet alarms.
  • Be aware of visitors needs etc.
  • Training on evac chair training carried out.

Closing

  • Ensure the roof garden is clear before requesting lift access to be locked.
  • Remove lost items during the closing patrol.
  • Securely lock staircases and place necessary barriers and signs.
  • Verify the X-ray machine, metal detector arch, and search room are secure.
