About the Role:

The Community Safety Patrol officer role comes with a full time (35hrs PW) fixed 18-month contract (until March 2025) and is perfect for someone who wants to be part of a new dynamic engagement and enforcement team.

This role will be part of a new cross-borough partnership tasked with taking a problem-solving approach to identifying and responding to issues impacting residents, businesses, and visitors to the South Bank and North of the borough. This role will mean working across several council services to provide support in carrying out enforcement duties, engaging with the community and implementing measures to reduce criminality in these areas. The post holder will be professional and have excellent communication skills, be skilled at influencing others, have experience in conflict management and confident in working alone or as part of a team. They will be responsible for undertaking a range of systems and administrative duties within the role and will be required to use the current information databases efficiently and effectively. Having a knowledge of ASB legislation is desirable but not mandatory as specialist training will be provided. The post holder should be prepared to work outside of normal hours, working evenings and occasional weekend working.

Skills need for this role are:

  • Experience in legislative processes and knowledge of Anti-Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014, London Local authorities Act 1990, Environmental Protection Act 1990 and Crime and Disorder Act 1998.
  • Experience of dealing with a diverse range of stake holder groups, e.g., members of the public, police and other emergency/enforcement services, local authority and contractor staff, commercial businesses and in media and public settings.
  • Experience of Community Safety/ ASB in a culturally diverse urban authority with multiple deprivation and complex social issues.
