The Department of Psychological Sciences and Health is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate on the ESRC funded project 'Strategy training to support healthy cognitive ageing: behavioural, neuroimaging, and real-world investigations'. FTE:1 FTE (35 hours/week) Term: Fixed Term (34 months) Closing Date: 11/02/2024 The Department of Psychological Sciences and Health is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate to contribute to a project funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). You will work with Principal Investigator (PI) Dr Louise Brown Nicholls and the Co-Investigators Dr Mario Parra Rodriguez (University of Strathclyde), Dr Richard Allen, Dr Melanie Burke (University of Leeds), and Dr Claudia von Bastian (University of Sheffield) on the project ‘Strategy training to support healthy cognitive ageing: behavioural, neuroimaging, and real-world investigations’. To be considered for the role, you will have completed, or almost completed (i.e., submitted, pending examination), a PhD in psychology or a closely related discipline. You will have knowledge of cognitive psychology (especially the study of memory and attention) and, ideally, cognitive ageing. You will have experience with quantitative research methods, particularly experimental techniques, and of associated statistical analyses. Additionally, you will have experience of using relevant software for generating and conducting experiments (e.g., E-Prime, PsychoPy). Experience with handling complex data, and of collecting cognitive data with older adults, would be an advantage. You will have the ability to conduct individual research work, and to do so professionally and sensitively. You will be able to plan, organise, and prioritise your own workload, including leading the preparation of research proposals and papers, and meeting deadlines. You will also be able to work within a team environment, including liaising closely with external collaborators and other stakeholders. Finally, you will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to listen, engage and persuade, and to present complex information in an accessible way to a range of audiences.
