Location: South Parks Road, Oxford About the role We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate to become a core member of a small and supportive interdisciplinary group working under the supervision of Dr Sarah Shammas. Our team uncover and quantify mechanistic roles of protein disorder within transcription factors. You will examine consequences of disorder-impacting mutations on transcriptional processes in cells, and in established complementary binding studies. You will contribute to mature projects nearing completion, and also have the opportunity to develop new research avenues. This presents an exciting opportunity to demonstrate how fundamental biophysical principles have been incorporated into cellular function. This full-time fixed-term post is funded by the Medical Research Council up to 29th March 2025 in the first instance. The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available. About you You will hold a PhD/DPhil or be near completion of a PhD/DPhil in cell biology, biochemistry or biophysics and have significant experience in mammalian cell culture, including transformation and/or CRISPR technologies. Experience with transcriptional studies using techniques such as ChIP, qPCR and FACS is essential together with having experience of protein expression and purification methods. You will have the ability to work independently and drive an interdisciplinary project as well as being able to work as part of a team. Excellent communication skills are expected including the ability to write for publication and present research proposals and results.
