This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions.
Who are we looking for?
As the Power Distribution Asset Manager, you will ensure the health and suitability of the UKAEA-owned site distribution network for the next 50 years. You will manage a diverse scope of Power Distribution from super grid transformers to circuit breakers. This critical role covers heavy distribution, HB power networks, and on-site experimental pulse networks.
What will you be responsible for?
- You will define the strategy for the asset management of all UKAEA-owned site distribution equipment and will be responsible for its delivery, overall management, and leadership. They will also serve as a Subject Matter Expert in asset management of electrical distribution.
- Develop the asset strategy and schedule, considering the operational patterns and all operating requirements by collaborating with the relevant parties.
- Define and implement the strategy for maintaining and operating the UKAEA-owned site distribution network. This includes the strategy to ensure the network is maintained to statutory and regulatory requirements whilst balancing the supply demand to operational facilities.
- Specify the usage and maintenance parameters, constraints and requirements to comply with any associated facility safety case conditions.
- Analyse the effectiveness of the strategies and propose modifications as required to improve the performance of the assets.
- Work with the Maintenance Manager to ensure resources performing asset testing, inspection, monitoring, servicing, and calibration satisfy competency requirements.
Qualifications
Essential skills, experience and competence required:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Significant experience in asset management of electrical distribution equipment and its operation and maintenance.
- In-depth understanding of industry practice, legislation and standards applicable to electrical systems.
To fulfil the duties of this role, the job holder will be expected to become:
- Authorised to carry out electrical isolations and issue appropriate certificates.
- Authorised to switch HV and LV equipment supporting UKAEA and Scottish & Southern Energy Power Distribution operations.
- Authorised Person (Electrical).
