A new and exciting role has been invested in and developed, creating an opportunity for an experienced Social Worker to share their practice experience and shape the practice of others.

About the role

You will support the development of those colleagues who are in the early stages of their Social Work career. Whatever route our colleagues chose to take into Social Work, we take seriously the need to offer high support to students and newly qualified Social Workers.

You will also influence the learning and development offer to the wider children’s services workforce. This will be through a variety of different means, such as 1-1 mentoring, small group learning or running training courses. The options are endless, and we would be looking to you to bring your best thinking for how this offer can be shaped and grow into something enviable!

This permanent post will shape the future of Social Work in North Somerset.

This position is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.

About you

  • You must be an experienced, qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
  • Have a passion about sharing learning and driving up practice standards.
  • Be able to offer high quality support and challenge to colleagues.
  • Have strong foundations in relationship-based practice.
  • Be effective both as a team player and the ability to work autonomously.
  • Be willing to push and stretch yourself and lead on new practice initiatives
