Job description

A skilled and experienced Practice Supervisor with a deep understanding of systemic practice and a particular interest in neurodiversity.

The Post holder plays a key role in providing clinical oversight, supervision, and guidance to our multidisciplinary team, ensuring high-quality and person-centred support for individuals with Autism and those on the diagnostic pathway.

This role requires a focus on restorative, trauma informed practice, leadership skills, and a commitment to promoting inclusivity and empowerment.

Base: County Hall, Chelmsford.  Travel in the Essex area to meet the needs of Children and Young People

This service runs Monday to Saturday 8am -8pm. This is a full-time position with the flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.

Main Responsibilities
Provide supervision and guidance to a multidisciplinary team of professionals, including Senior Autism Outreach Practitioners, Autism Outreach Practitioners, and Peer Support Workers.
Utilise systemic practice principles to support staff in understanding the complex needs of individuals with Autism and their families.
Bring specialised knowledge and expertise in neurodiversity to the supervision process, ensuring that team members are equipped to understand and address the unique challenges and strengths of individuals with Autism.
Offer guidance on evidence-based interventions and approaches that promote neurodiversity acceptance and inclusion.
Facilitate ongoing professional development and training opportunities for team members, with a focus on enhancing their understanding of neurodiversity and systemic practice.
Provide case consultation and support to team members, assisting them in developing effective support plans and interventions for individuals with Autism.
Collaborate with other professionals and agencies involved in the care of service users to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to support.
Conduct regular reviews and audits to monitor the quality and effectiveness of interventions, identifying areas for improvement and implementing action plans as needed.
Champion the integration of lived experience perspectives into reflective supervision and service delivery processes.

The Ideal Candidate
Current registration as a Clinical Psychologist, Social Worker, or equivalent professional accreditation.
·Substantial experience in providing trauma informed clinical supervision and guidance in a mental health or social services setting, with a focus on neurodiversity.
Strong understanding of neurodevelopmental conditions, including Autism spectrum disorders, and evidence-based interventions.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a multidisciplinary team.
Commitment to promoting inclusivity, diversity, and empowerment in all aspects of service delivery.
Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and build strong partnerships across sectors. 
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning in the field of neurodiversity.
Driving licence and access to vehicle for work purposes


Travel within Essex, Southend, and Thurrock may be required to fulfill the responsibilities of the role.
