Ventnor Medical Practice are looking for a Finance Assistant who will work directly for the Practice Business Manager.
The Finance Assistant will oversee the practice accounts and deliver accurate bookkeeping duties to safely monitor all income and expenditure. This is an ideal role for somebody seeking development and experience in practice finances and the healthcare sector.
Main duties of the job
- To oversee practice accounting, claims, invoices and reconciliations.
- To effectively communicate financial matters to the Practice Business Manager.
- Compliance with petty cash, cash handling and banking duties.
- To ensure all income and expenditure due to or made by the practice is recorded in the accounts package.
- To monitor all income and expenditure and ensure these stay within assigned budgets.

- The following are the core responsibilities of the Finance Assistant. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels.
The Finance Assistant is responsible for:
a. General bookkeeping, including all financial ledgers and reconciling statements, identifying any inaccuracies, and reporting to the Practice Manager
b. Recording all income and expenditure on the practice's accounts package.
c. Ensure compliance with petty cash, cash handling and banking duties ensuring that all staff are aware of the internal process with petty cash.
d. Monitor and manage the shared Finance email box for the practice.
e. Managing expenditure and income streams ensuring invoices are paid on time, all income is accounted for and reporting any anomalies to the Practice Manager.
f. Monitoring expenditure to see that budgets are adhered to.
g. Monitoring income, to include: raising invoices; following up missed payments; identifying all income sources; liaising with payment providers to ensure payments are made.
h. Assisting in providing the accountants with information or evidence they require to they require to complete year end
i. Complete mandatory training and to have read and understood mandatory practice policies.
j. Directly contribute to financial improvement by identifying financial trends, exploring areas for increasing income and reducing costs.
k. To provide monthly monitoring and finance updates to the Practice Manager and the Partners.

- Good standard of education with excellent literacy and numeracy skills

- Accounting and / or finance qualification/training
