Premises Maintenance Operative (Caretaker) at Haberdashers' Elstree Schools

Overview
This full-time position will assist the wider Estates Team with the care of the Schools’ premises, including general maintenance duties including minor repair and refurbishment works, porterage and other duties, supporting the Site Managers in ensuring the health and safety and security of the whole campus. The post holder will work on both reactive and planned preventative maintenance, liaising with contractors as necessary. In addition, the post holder will be responsible for taking the lead on small refurbishment projects.
Hours
This is a full-time role, 40 hours per week, 5 days out of 7 at varying hours as per the shift pattern, where evening and weekend work may be required.
The role will include but not be limited to the following duties:
Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact
Being responsible for small refurbishment projects which may include minor building works, tiling, painting, carpentry and any other repairs
Ensuring that any professional qualifications or training are kept up to date
Ensuring that all maintenance plant and equipment is maintained in a safe and serviceable condition, and report defects and damage
Participating as a member of a project team as required
Responding to maintenance requests, defect reports, and supporting the setting up of events and activities
Liaising with the emergency services and responding to critical incidents as required
Ensuring the campus is kept tidy
Maintain records of works and facilitate in plans or designs as required
Undertaking any other duties as required by the Head of Estates
