Press And Pr Officer

Venn Group is working with a large Membership Body to recruit a Press and PR Officer on a permanent contract. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Media professional to join the team in further raising the profile of the organisation and increasing national media coverage.

Key responsibilities of the role:

• Respond to high volumes of media enquiries to enhance the influence of the organisation nationally, regionally and internationally
• Draw up proactive communications plans incorporating print, broadcast, online and social media
• Respond quickly and sensitively to negative or critical news stories, limiting potential damage to the reputation of the organisation
• Write and edit material for internal and external audiences, including weekly e-bulletin and a membership magazine
• Provide strategic advice to the Chair, Officers and Chief Executive, identifying and PRomoting key policies, highlighting risks and ensuring that the organisation communicates consistent messages
• Liaise with the Web Content Editor to ensure that web and social media activities are aligned
• Provide a 24/7 out of hours media rota, including weekend and public holidays, with other colleagues in the team

 Ideal candidate profile:

• Strong work ethic and willingness to work on an out of hours rota
• Experience working in a similar role within the public sector
• Experience of crisis communications
• Ability to communicate effectively with journalists and senior stakeholders
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills (demonstrated through published work)

Working pattern: Hybrid (2 days a week in the office)
