What will be your responsibilities?

We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Press Officer to join our communications team. In this role you will be instrumental in elevating a prime urban area as a top filming location for Film and TV productions. You will be responsible for managing all media relations, press releases, industry relations and public communications related to the borough’s Film and TV location activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic communications plans that promote the borough's Film and TV location services to local, national, and international media.
  • Craft compelling press releases, media briefings, and content for social media that highlight the borough's capabilities and successes as a Film and TV location.
  • Serve as the primary media contact for inquiries related to filming activities, coordinating with production companies and stakeholders to manage public impact.
  • Monitor media coverage, analyse communications strategies, and report on effectiveness to continually improve outreach.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, broadcasters, and influencers within the entertainment and media industries.
  • Organize events, press tours, and interviews that showcase the borough’s locations and facilities to prospective producers and directors.
  • Ensure that all communications align with the borough's branding and public relations objectives.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments, including cultural affairs and tourism, to ensure a unified promotional strategy.
  • Engage actively with industry events, trade associations and film festivals to represent and promote the borough’s interests to filmmakers and location scouts.
  • Build awareness that will help drive relationships with location scouts and production companies to facilitate filming opportunities and streamline the location approval process.
  • Liaise with the local community to foster support and enthusiasm for filming projects, addressing concerns and highlighting the economic and cultural benefits of such activities.

Requirements

·         Minimum of 3 years of experience in a press, media relations, or communications role, preferably with experience in the entertainment industry or cultural sector.

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a proven track record of preparing effective and engaging press materials.

·         Experience managing media relations and securing meetings during public events, trade shows or large-scale projects.

·         Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

·         Knowledge of the Film and television production industry is highly desirable.

·         Familiarity with the latest trends in digital media and social media platforms.
