Role Description
· Teaching assigned classes together with associated preparation and correction
· Contributing towards developing the school curriculum
· Assessing, recording and reporting on the work of pupils in accordance with school policies
· Providing advice and guidance to pupils on issues related to their education
· Promoting and safeguarding the health, welfare and safety of pupils
· Working in partnership with parents, school and other professionals
· Undertaking appropriate and agreed continuing professional development
· Participating in issues related to school planning, raising achievement and individual review;
· Contributing towards good order and the wider needs of the school
· Manage your own performance in accordance with the General Teaching Council for Scotland’s (GTCS) Professional Standards
· Manage risk, promote risk awareness and prioritise work in light of the risk analysis.
· Establish good working relationships with all staff and to liaise with them as necessary.
· Play a full part in the life of the School and carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Headteacher
Person Specification
· Proven teaching experience with relevant qualification (must be registered with GTCS or be eligible for registration when starting post)
· Excellent communication skills. Knowledge of Arabic is preferred although not essential. Must be willing to learn basic Arabic commands and instructions on the job.
· The ability to teach with enthusiasm, in order to motivate pupils to be interested in, and committed to their work.
· Proven ability to promote strong, positive ethos and maintain high standards of behaviour and levels of attainment and achievement across the classroom.
· Evidence of good/outstanding teaching practice.
· Understanding of current safeguarding, child protection issues and legislation.
